Google Chrome Review

I have always been a great fan of Google and their product launches, either it is their Gmail, Adsense, Gtalk, Adwords etc. Hence as soon as I got the news that Google was going to launch their own web browser, I was surprised and was really quite eager to try it out. On the D-day, I just downloaded it and tried it at once.

The impression I got on seeing Google Chrome for first time, it looked even better than I thought it would be. Google Chrome looked really very neat and simple. All blue. Elegant.

But I was not at all a fan of those quick view boxes lying on the front of my home page. I want it either blank or with a home page of my choice, mostly Google of course. I tried to make it as a blank page but could not do it and hence changed the home page to Google.com at the settings.

The other important feature or option which I loved with Google Chrome is incognito. Wherein if you choose this option from the control button on top of the browser, your history or other details or cookies or for that matter anything will not be saved on your computer during your browsing! This is indeed a new feature which I have never seen in any other browser. This will be extremely useful for visiting such sites which I don’t want any traces left behind on my computer. Switching to this incognito option is like a breeze. Just select that option from the control option and you are in.

The feature which was found missing with Google Chrome when compared to other browsers like Internet Explorer, Firefox or Opera is that the menus like file, edit, view, favorites, tools and help are missing. Instead of those cluttered menus, Google Chrome has only two controlling options for all your needs. Namely “control the current page” where it has several sub options in them and “customize and control Google Chrome” tool which acts similar to “options” in other browsers. This feature makes Google Chrome very neat in its look and clutter-free.

You can find only the back and forward button and refresh button and the address bar along with the above mentioned two control menus in the entire browser. If you want to add in the homepage button, you can do so from the customize option available.

The one feature which interested me much was that you can directly type in the search term you want to search in the address bar and it will fetch the result from the default search engine you choose. It also has the most visited pages displayed on your home page just like the speed dial you find in Opera browser. It also has an unique feature where you can actually search among the history, i.e., the web pages visited recently.
