Google Chrome Internet Browser
Posted in: Internet Web Browser |
Yet again Google has amazed us with another suprise release of a very popular product, a web browser. Google, being one of the top companies on the internet, has been long expected to release a web browser but has yet to do so. To everyone’s suprise and joy just a few days ago Google released a web comic strip mentioning the new browser, properly named Chrome, and describing it’s unique features. Now the initial Beta version of Chrome is released.
The web comic released a few days ago describes the need of a new kind of browser, something started from scratch. The comic claims that most of today’s web pages are simply online applications and what people really need is a browser that realizes this and enhances it.
So what makes this new browser so interesting? The first major feature to notice is that Web Toolkit is the core of Chrome. What is Web Toolkit? Essentially it’s an open source browser core that’s been in development for quite some time now and focuses on the problem of large Java and AJAX systems clogging the browser and performing in a state not desired by the original engineer. To cope with this issue the engine implemented an entirely new Javascript engine called JS 8. Never before released in any other browser, JS 8 is designed to handle large applications written in the core Java language. This means that instead of writing your web applications in plain Javascript, Web Toolkit will interpret your Java code and then translate it into syntax that JS 8 can interpret and execute. This not only increases the performance of web applications, but it radically expands what they can do as they are no longer bound by the many limitations created with Javascript.
This is not the only amazing feature Web Toolkit provides. Many built-in features like the Element Inspector and JS Command line provide developers with invauluable help in debugging and creating their web applications. There’s an entire sub-section of the main menu in Chrome titled “Developer” that’s dedicated to providing developers with the tools they need. Google has truly reached a new level with developers.
The support of Java and the implementation of JS 8 will put Chrome on the charts incredibly fast. Chrome will mark a new page in the Web 2.0 development and already developers are hyped to test out the hidden power behind Chrome. Cnet already performed and in dept test and comparison of the most popular browsers. The results are really stunning. Try the benchmark yourself.
Detailed benchmark results can be found here.
Various other goodies make up the browser’s initial excitement. The idea of having a windowed “Task Manager” that displays vital information on every tab open and let’s you terminate one’s acting up brings a whole new defense to spyware and internet related attacks. The organization provided by being able to access bookmarks, recently closed tabs, favorite pages, and your browsing history on every new tab also greatly helps users.
The biggest excitement so far behind the browser is simply that it’s being supported by Google and that, as always, is open source. Many expect the combination of these two features to launch Google into the browser race along side top companies like Mozilla and Microsoft who had remained firm with their software for many years

While am very happy this, it’s good and keep it up google. Thanks for sharing
That is an incredible speed difference. A very innovative approach to resolving the bottleneck.
I wonder how long before other browser’s, such as FireFox, implement a similar solution.
Thanks for the info.
