Google Chrome is actually the new and latest browser offered by Google.  It is still in beta and hence we cannot expect it to be near perfect.  Although from the look of things overall, it looks like a pretty decent and safe and faster browser compare to the others like Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera and Safari.

The installation of Google Chrome goes off like a breeze.  But it is a pity that you need to have at least Windows XP SP2 to install Google Chrome.  After the installation you can actually import all the bookmarks from other browsers from the import bookmarks & settings.  It takes hardly seconds to import the bookmarks depending on the bookmarks you have in the other browsers.

You can then start personalizing your Google Chrome by doing minor changes and tweaks to suit your personal settings.  You can switch on or off on the password settings and also make all the settings to default depending on what you need.  You can also choose the default search engine, where if you just search at the address bar, the result will be displayed using this search engine.  You can also choose the home page at the tools menu.

Posted in: Browser Compare, Internet Web Browser |

Google Chrome is the newbie in the browser market which has been dominated by Firefox and Internet Explorer along with Opera and Safari.  Where Internet Explorer was leading followed by Firefox till now, this could change soon with the arrival of Google Chrome.

We could compare how Gmail changed the way we look at free emails, similarly Google Chrome could do the same when it comes to browsers.  And similarly Chrome could become market leader when it comes to browsers soon, very similar to how Gmail reached the top spot in the category of free emails.

Internet Explorer 8 uses discrete, multiple processes to protect and isolate every tab’s contents just like Chrome. Though, as Chrome takes a purist approach and launches a fresh process with every opened tab, Internet Explorer 8 utilizes more of the hybrid model. It forms many instances of iexplore.exe process however does not particularly allocate every tab to its own instance. Hence a glance at the Task Manager below Windows will illustrate an equal or even larger number of Chrome instances than running the tabs, while Internet Explorer 8 will produce a less number of instances, for example, 6 copies of iexplore.exe to hold 10 discrete tabs, as well as share them amongst the running tabs.

Google Chrome and IE 8 are yet in the Beta stages of expansion. Chrome, particularly, is in its 1st public test release cycle, whereas IE 8 is only being made accessible in a feature complete form. And it is also vital to believe all of the non-architectural changes that these 2 browsers bring to the table, most remarkably, improved rendering performance as well as usability.

Both Chrome and IE 8 extend the limits of present PC hardware by guzzling up massive amounts of RAM whereas drenching the system with many synchronized execution threads. IE 8 consumes 332MB of RAM to make a simple 10-site/10-tab browsing situation, whereas Chrome uses almost as much RAM (324MB).
